The #CastillaStats fantasy league

The #CastillaStats fantasy league consisted of 10 renowned Castilla associates, and ran during the final part of the 2017/18 season. Each participant earnt a maximum of 3 points per Castilla fixture, by correctly guessing each one of the following three factors:

1. The result (W/D/L)

2. The final score

3. The goal scorers

The winner at the end of the 2017/18 was Ondra Paul, with Real Madrid employee Julio Sánchez Barreda coming in a very close second place on goal difference. Below, you will find the final table, alongside the last round of predictions.

I want to start off by taking time out to thank all of the participants of the #Castillastats fantasy league! Without them and their efforts, no matter how small, this project wouldn't have gone anywhere. With all that being said - we have a champion! After a long and tedious season, Ondra Paul came out on top after an exhilarating final day decider. Although the top 3 players finished on the same amount of points, it was goal difference that separated Ondra from the rest, with his Francisco Feuillassier prediction earning him the trophy! Ondra was bottom of the table without a point until the half way mark of the fantasy league season, and ended up being champions at the top of it, what a comeback! A lot of praise has to be given to second place Julio Sánchez who spent the most time at the top of the table and played the game excellently! Some brilliant three pointers were won, and some agonising last minute defeats were rife throughout the season! It was a big honour to compete against such great individuals, including those who work for the club itself and the top journalists that leave no pebble unturned with their reporting! Congratulations Ondra, thank you to all nine participants - the CastillaStats fantasy league may return with a new look soon!
